After Care

Saniderm instructions

Tattoo Aftercare is important in preventing infection and scarring!

(Saniderm is the “Second Skin” clear bandage Adhesive)

  • Leave the Saniderm on for 3-5 days.  If the Saniderm falls off early, don’t worry! Start your washing regimen once it falls off. The Saniderm needs to stay on for at least 2 hours post-procedure. It is normal for plasma and blood to build up under the bandage. The plasma may look black, because it is mixed with excess ink.

  • Take the bandage off slowly under warm running water.

  • Gently wash off the excess plasma using unscented antibacterial soap, then pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel. We recommend Dr. Bronnor's Baby Castile Soap. After washing, apply a thin layer of ointment. We recommend vitamin A&D ointment or Aquaphor. Do not use thick ointments such as vaseline. Repeat this step 2 times a day

  • Once your tattoo dries and moves into the peeling stage (day 2 or 3), continue to wash your tattoo, but switch from ointment, to an unscented lotion. Repeat twice a day till your tattoo is fully healed. We recommend Lubriderm Lotion or Cetaphil.

  • Keep your tattoo out of salt water, rivers, lakes, hot tubs, bathes or other pools and chlorine for no less than 2 weeks post procedure.

  • DO NOT scratch, pick or peel your tattoo.

  • Do Not get sunburned over the tattooed area while it is healing.

  • Once healed, continual sunscreen use keeps your tattoo looking fresh over the years.

  • The healing process is tough on new tattoos! Touch-ups are not uncommon. Touch-ups must be done once the tattoo is fully healed. We ask you wait 3-weeks post-tattoo. Touch ups are free up to 2-years.

Non-adhesive Bandage

Tattoo Aftercare is important in preventing infection and scarring!

(Non- Adhesive bandage)

  • If using a standard, non-adhesive bandage, remove bandage within 2-3 hours post-procedure.

  • Take the bandage off slowly under warm running water.
